# Update User

> Update a user's role, name, location access, and notification preferences.

## Description

Updates an existing user's role, personal details, location access, and notification preferences. When updating `locationsNumberAccess`, the provided list replaces the user's entire current location access — partial updates are not supported.

## Parameters

### Required

| `entUser` | boolean | Yes | `false` | Set to `true` to grant enterprise-level access to all locations; `false` to restrict to specific locations |

### Notification preferences (`notification` object)

| `sendDailyReviewDigest` | integer | Daily review digest email: `1` = on, `0` = off |
| `dailyDigestAbsoluteTime` | string | Time to send daily digest (`"HH:MM"` format) |
| `sendWeeklyReviewDigest` | integer | Weekly review digest: `1` = on, `0` = off |
| `weeklyDigestAbsoluteTime` | string | Time to send weekly digest (`"HH:MM"` format) |
| `weeklyDigestRunDay` | integer | Day of week for weekly digest: `0` = Sunday, `1` = Monday, … `6` = Saturday |
| `sendReviewSmsAlert` | integer | SMS alert for new reviews: `1` = on, `0` = off |
| `sendDailySocialDigest` | integer | Daily social digest email: `1` = on, `0` = off |

## Example Usage

Give sarah.jones@acme.com access to locations 78901, 78902, and 78903.

Enable daily review digest for rm.west@acme.com, sent at 8:00 AM on weekdays.

## Notes

* `locationsNumberAccess` always **replaces** the full location access list — it is not additive. Always provide the complete desired list of location IDs.
* Setting `entUser: true` grants access to all locations and ignores `locationsNumberAccess`.
* Call [`get_child_locations`](/mcp/tools/business/get-child-locations) to retrieve valid location IDs for `locationsNumberAccess`.
